Everkool is proud to have completed the latest in our series of projects for Merseytravel. Since our first tender success with Merseytravel in August 2014 we have gone from strength to strength, forging a strong relationship based upon mutual trust and 100% transparency.

The introduction of The EC Ozone Regulation (No. 1005/2009), from 1st January 2015, placed a total ban on all recycled and reclaimed R22 making it impossible for Clients and their contractors to service and maintain air conditioning systems that operate on R22 refrigerants.

After a successful outcome in the tender process, Everkool was appointed by Merseytravel to undertake the the planned programme of replacing all R22 dependent air conditioning units with more efficient units with lower CO2 emissions and lower running costs. During the past 18 months we have completed a number of similar R22 phase out projects for a wide variety of new and existing Clients.

Following site visits to three buildings within the Merseytravel estate, we identified a total of air conditioning 10 units in need of decommissioning and replacement namely;

Birkenhead Bus Station (3)

St. George’s Dock (4)

Huyton Bus Station (3)

For the sake of brevity, we have focused on the works at Birkenhead Bus Station to demonstrate our expertise and professionalism.

BIRKENHEAD BUS STATION

Projected managed by Everkool’s Head Engineer Neil McAvoy, and overseen by Craig Greenwood, the project was scheduled to take place over four days with the decommission works commencing on Sunday 23rd August at 08.00.

Health and Safety

The specifics of the site and risks identified during the comprehensive assessment, with use by the general public, dictated the inclusion of traffic management measures within the RAMS proposal.

Our retained advisors, Rawlings, accompanied us during the site visits and attended site periodically throughout the works to ensure the required health and safety measures were, and remained, in situ.

Vehicles arriving at Stand 5 were observed, during the initial site visit, to venture approximately 1 metre into the ‘hard shoulder’ part of the road presenting a potential hazard to drivers, the Everkool team and pedestrians. To mitigate this risk, Stand 5 was closed for the duration, hazard traffic cones were positioned at 2 metre intervals at 1 metre in to the ‘hard shoulder’, warning signage and a 5mph speed limit sign placed in situ and an exclusion zone erected using free-standing pedestrian barriers.

In addition, a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) with an integrated access gate was utilised to enable our team safe access to a working height work of approximately 3.2m, eliminating hazardous manual handling and the secure lowering of the old condenser unit and pipe work to the ground.

Undertaking the works

Wearing full PPE equipment and making full use of the MEWP, the Everkool team fully decommissioned the existing the condenser unit and pipe works from the roof and internal control room.

F-Gas log sheets were completed for each of the condenser units, preparing them for disposal, in line with our Refcom certification, through our retained Environmental Agency-licensed waste carriers.

During days two, three and four our team completed the installation, pressure testing, charging and commissioning of the three new, energy efficient Daikin inverter systems together with interconnecting pipework.

Pipework and associated was basket cages for the units were specified to ensure a perfect aesthetic fit to the outside of the building.

We pre-applied the new coils with a Blygold anti-corrosion coating – proven to stop corrosion, reduce energy consumption and maintain the efficient running of the newly installed equipment.

“Everkool’s planning and attention to detail are key strengths which inspire confidence they can always complete the required works to specification, on time and within budget. Our experience to date has been first class and we look forward to continuing our relationship.”

Everkool has worked with Iliad since 2008, currently providing servicing & maintenance and out-of-hours support  to their comprehensive portfolio of restaurant, delicatessen and retail brands.

When Iliad announced their latest venture – a new pizza & pasta restaurant on Bold Street – there was only one choice for their air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration needs. Everkool!

Air Conditioning
To meet the needs of this high footfall restaurant in one of Liverpool’s most popular foodie destinations , Everkool chose to specify Mitsubishi Electric products – tried and tested within a number of Iliad’s other restaurants and once again the preferred option.

With a capacity approaching 130 covers at any one time, four single split ceiling cassette air conditioning units were required and meticulously installed to provide the optimum levels of climate control.

As a Business Solutions Partner with Mitsubishi Electric we were also able to help Iliad secure affordable financing, via Melsmart.

This enabled the Client to spread the cost of Crust’s air conditioning equipment, installation, servicing & maintenance costs over a number of years – another reason for the continued selection of Everkool as the preferred partner for refits, refurbishments and acquisitions to their ever-expanding portfolio.

Refrigeration
Renowned locally by Liverpool’s hospitality sector for our refrigeration expertise, we also sourced, supplied and installed Crust’s cellar cooling system and the walk-in fridge.

Ventilation
Two stainless steel canopy hoods, specified to fit seamlessly with the remaining kitchen aesthetics, and a fresh air extract system were supplied and installed.

A new, independently-owned Italian café located on Castle Street, Pasta Cosa’s owners were recommended to contact Everkool by a fellow specialist contractor.

With an enviable reputation of working with most of Liverpool’s finest eateries, bars and hotels, we seized the opportunity to work with the Pasta Cosa team.

A visit to the site, confirmed the requirements. Mitsubishi Electric’s single split ceiling cassette air conditioning unit was the ideal product to keep staff and clientele working and eating in a comfortable, temperature-controlled environment.

With the install complete, the café opened its doors in February 2016.

The latest in the growing portfolio of apart-hotels, One Arthouse Square is set to be another sterling success for Everkool’s longstanding partner Signature Living.

Situated in the heart of Liverpool’s Ropewalks area, a vibrant, bustling hub of activity with the FACT cinema as a neighbour, the building itself is a prime example of modern architecture and is often regarded as the catalyst for the urban renewal of the area.

Initially an abandoned factory, and more lately the home of NHS Liverpool’s Clinical Commissioning Group, One Arthouse Square’s spectacular multi-stage transformation will see it ultimately house two bars, a restaurant, a 75 unit apart-hotel with plans to turn the basement into a ping-pong hall / bar.

Already completed, open and drawing in crowds the Arthouse Bar, themed around movies from the 20s and 30s, features an extensive cocktail menu, including the Charlie ChapGIN and the Marilyn Monroetini.

A welcome addition to the Hope Street area of Liverpool, Buyers Club has filled the void left when The Flying Picket closed its doors 10 years ago.

A multifaceted bar, spanning two floors & including a private dining room, music venue and an outdoor space, Buyers Club is focused on doing simple things to the highest standards.

A joint stakeholder venture of three local hospitality heavyweights, including existing client Bold Street Coffee’s Sam Tawil, Buyers Club finally reopened its doors in October 2015 to wide acclaim.

Having previously worked with Craig and his team,

and experienced the same passion and commitment

to quality, Everkool was the natural installation & commissioning partner for the air conditioning system.

Mitsubishi Electric was again the manufacturer of choice with the affordable financing option on offer, by virtue of Everkool’s Business Solutions Partner status, proving an attractive proposition to the Client.

Working closely with the Client and the project management team, three ducted air conditioning systems, two flat oval ducts and one spiral duct, and two stainless steel canopy hoods were carefully installed by the team over during August 2015.

Renowned for creating the finest American style pizza in Liverpool, with passion and flare, American Pizza Slice have recently opened their third branch in the culinary hothouse of Bold Street.

In keeping with the vast majority of our commissions, our region-wide reputation for quality, right-first-time installations led directly to a recommendation from Co:de Concrete’s Ben Atkinson and ensured Everkool were successfully appointed to undertake the works.

We are delighted to add American Pizza Slice to our extensive and growing list of Clients.

A departure from the first two Liverpool-outlets in Whitechapel and South Road, which both operate the takeaway format, Bold Street has a large seating area, a beer garden with cover and heaters, as well as an upstairs seating and bar area – all styled in the contemporary décor we’ve all come to love and expect from American Pizza Slice.

A detailed survey and inspection of the building identified the heating and cooling requirements to maintain a balanced, comfortable temperature for both customers and staff.

For this commission, we chose to work with major industry supplier Daikin, with whom have an enviable and long established relationship and are an approved D1 Installer. We specified a total of three walls mounted cassettes to meet the air conditioning needs throughout the building, which were installed by to our own high and exacting standards by the Everkool team during May 2017.

If you’ve not tried pizza from American Pizza Slice, we wholly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed!

When long-standing Clients, Paolo & Donato Cillo decided to expand their gastronomic empire, a call to Everkool’s Craig Greenwood was the natural choice to set the ball rolling.

A Tavola, which opened in February 2017, is a unique one-stop-shop offering over 500 varieties of Italian foods and wine, including the finest meats and cheeses sourced directly from Italy.

Already recognised for their award-winning restaurants Crust Pizzeria and Il Forno, the proud owners have combined the delicatessen, with a cafe / bar area and also opened the first Italian cookery school in Liverpool – delivering a range of masterclasses held in the open kitchen, teaching customers how to make a variety of Italian dishes.

Having worked together across their restaurant portfolio, and sharing a passion for service excellence, Everkool were commissioned to specify, supply and install the walk-in fridge to the rear of the delicatessen.

As well as ensuring its size and refrigeration outputs would maintain the optimum temperature requirements for the foods, the current and future needs and the size of available space were key considerations.

The multi-deck display chillers, which take pride of place within the main delicatessen thoroughfare, were also specified, supplied and installed, with the accompanying pipe and drain works.

Everkool will, as it does for the vast majority of its Client base, undertake planned annual servicing of the equipment and meet any responsive maintenance needs.

Everkool’s reputation for providing outstanding service stretches far beyond Merseyside, yet it has carved out a virtual monopoly on satisfying the air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration requirements of Liverpool’s bars, clubs and restaurants.

Owner of Circo, Jason McNeill, had previously engaged Everkool to specify, supply and fit the ideal systems for his restaurant Castle St. Townhouse.

Delighted with our advice, installation expertise and workmanship, he had no hesitation in calling us when Circo left its Albert Dock base of the previous nine years to relocate to the bustling development hub of Seel Street.

If you’ve never been to Circo, it’s an experience like no other with dinner shows which feature astounding aerial trapeze artists, amazing magic acts, freaky malevolent clowns and unbelievable escapologists. Seating is available in the mezzanine area.

Our works within the new premises covered the following areas:

Air conditioning

Specifying, sourcing and installing a Mitsubishi ducted system with four ceiling cassettes – each

custom sprayed with a blue finish to fit in with the surrounding aesthetics.

Cellar cooling system

Specifying, sourcing and installing the cellar cooling systems, to ensure the bottled & draught beers, bottled soft drinks and mixers are served at the optimum temperatures.

Extract works

Specifying, sourcing and installing the kitchen extract canopy, the fire-rated extract work up the riser, together with extraction within all of the toilet facilities within the venue.

Everkool has been retained to undertake planned annual servicing of the equipment and meet any responsive maintenance needs.

“It’s always a pleasure working with Everkool. This is the second project they have worked on for me in the last 12 months and always deliver the install on schedule”

Jason McNeill, Owner, Circo

The renovation of Silkhouse Court, in Liverpool’s business district, is now firmly underway – with completion scheduled for Q1 2018.

The development project, with an estimated investment of £25 million, is a joint venture between respected developers Fortis Developments and Signature Living – with Signature Living’s teams of retained contractors overseeing the renovation works.

Both parties, award-winning developers in their own right, boast a wealth of expertise and a proven track record of transforming unloved and defunct buildings to their former glory.

A total of 193 residential units, comprising studios, one and two-bedroom apartments, will be available across the 15-floor building, with an on-site gym and 24/7 concierge service.

A long-established partner of Signature Living, having worked on all of their projects requiring over specialist range of air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration services over the past six years, Everkool were their first and only consideration for Silkhouse Court.

During February 2017 we sourced and installed Mechanical Extraction Ventilation (MEV), to the precise and agreed specifications of the architects, within the kitchen and toilet areas in each of the 193 designated residences within the building.

The planned 48-week renovation remains on track for completion early in 2018 and updates on the progress can be found here: http://fortisdevelopments.com/construction

A huge fan of our attentiveness and quality of works, proprietor Helen Demetrios had no hesitation in choosing Everkool when considering recent improvements to Brook Hall Inn, Childer Thornton, Wirral.

Originally built in 1860 by a local businessman, and standing within three acres of grounds, the Inn boasts 25 individually-designed bedrooms and is recognised locally as a destination venue for weddings, functions and conferences.

Having called upon Everkool’s air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration services for a number of years at another of her highly renowned culinary venues, Sheldrakes (Lower Heswall), Helen has the confidence that we can always meet her high and exacting standards.

On this occasion, we were required to specify, source and install two cellar cooling systems to cover both the main bar and the function suite areas – routine tasks for our team of experienced, highly capable engineers.

In addition, we provided ventilation for the hot water system within the Boiler Room.

The works were undertaken over a period of four days during April 2017.

“We have worked with Craig and the Everkool for a number of years and have always been thoroughly impressed with their knowledge, advice and the quality of the workmanship. We’ve recommended them to numerous other local businesses across Merseyside and will continue to do so. Quality companies need to be recognised and celebrated.”

– Helen Demetrios, Owner, Brook Hall Inn
